Youth Development Initiative


This work readiness virtual series is designed to deliver eight Facilitator lead topics over the course of four weeks. Two topics will run each week for a duration of 60 minutes each topic. The topics will run every Tuesday and Thursday for the duration of the 2023 Summer Camp. This will yield three runs in cohorts of 10. Start date is Tuesday May 31st. The suggested session time will most likely be 1:00-2:00. This work readiness series will also include 1-4 self-paced virtual assignments to be completed weekly. Course facilitation is $65/topic/hour and an MOU/MOA between Mir-Image LLC and Community Haven is welcomed.

Topics are Employment Basics, The Job Search, Dress to Impress, The Interview, Job Retention, Work Ethics, Money Management, and Entrepreneurship. 

Employment basics are designed for one to learn interests, likes, and dislikes in order to find the best fit in the workplace. Attendees engage in assessments that help to extract such information that can be used to develop a career path.

The job search is designed to teach different ways to search for jobs and specific jobs of interest. Attendees also learn how to properly complete an application in addition to building a resume with the inclusion of soft skills. Email and social media etiquette are addressed as this speaks to branding which is the beginning of professionalism.

The dress to impress is designed to cover head to toe dress for the interview. Attendees also learn about the importance of hygiene, fragrance, nail color, hair color, hair styles, makeup, accessories, and shoes. In addition, attendees learn about grooming as a part of overall presentation. Dress to impress also covers on the job dress code compliance a necessary component for appropriate presentation while in the workplace.

The interview is designed to cover from beginning to end of the interview. Attendees learn how to start the interview by using soft skills such as waiting for the welcome to take a seat to extending the thank you after the interview. Attendees learn how to use correct grammar and pronunciation in the interview through practice questions which culminate into mock interviews.

Job retention is designed to cover soft skills also known as transferable skills needed to sustain in the workplace. Job retention also covers in-demand skills needed for industry of choice and industries in general. Attendees learn the key soft skills required of all employers and necessary for success in any job task in the workplace.

Work ethics is designed to cover key skills that support workplace retention. Attendees learn the necessary skills for long term success. Attendees learn how to be the employees that businesses and companies seek not just for retention but for promotion.

Money management is designed to cover budgeting and spending. Attendees learn about money and how to spend and or budget via the stipend which is a great starting point to managing money in the future. Attendees receive hands on opportunities with spending, saving, and budgeting therefore building a healthy relationship with money which teaches planning for success and problem solving with money.

Entrepreneurship is designed to cover exposure for those interested in business ownership. Attendees learn the legal requirements of owning a business. Attendees learn the additional aspects that come with business ownership.
